結腸癌 Colon cancer - an abnormal (or malignant) growth arising from the inner lining (mucosa) of the large bowel. Also called large bowel cancer or colorectal cancer. 大腸內黏膜不正常（惡性）的增生，也稱大腸癌或結直腸癌。


瘜肉 Polyps - mushroom-shaped growths on the inner lining of the large bowel. Although they are non-cancerous, one type of polyp called adenoma is the precursor of colon cancer. If untreated, some adenoma will grow bigger and become cancerous in a number of years. 生長在大腸內膜的菇狀物體。雖然不是癌症，但其中一種稱為腺瘤的瘜肉是結腸癌的癌前病害。若不加以治理，數年後一些腺瘤會長大和轉為惡性。

瘜肉病 Polyposis - a hereditary condition in which an individual develops hundreds of polyps in the large bowel. 病人的大腸上長了百粒瘜肉就是瘜肉病，這是遺傳病。
